Definition

The fundamental rights and freedoms to which all humans are entitled. Germany's Basic Law begins with 'Human dignity is inviolable' (Article 1) — a direct response to the Nazi Holocaust. Germany is one of the world's strongest advocates for international human rights, the UN, and the International Criminal Court.
