The Dutch auction method (descending price auction, used for tulips and flowers) is a major trading innovation now used globally. Rotterdam's Port (largest in Europe) is the gateway for European goods. The Amsterdam Stock Exchange (AEX, founded 1602) was the world's first stock exchange.
