English Definition
The long-term weather patterns of a region. Russia's climate is extreme — subarctic and arctic in much of Siberia, continental in central Russia, and temperate in the west. Siberia records some of the world's coldest inhabited temperatures (Oymyakon: −67.7°C). Climate change is warming Russia twice as fast as the global average, thawing permafrost (which covers 65% of Russian territory) and releasing vast stores of methane — a critical global climate concern.
