shule
English meaning: School
Swahili Definition
(Kiswahili)Taasisi ya kielimu inayotoa mafunzo ya kimfumo kwa watoto na vijana.
English Definition
An institution for educating children. 'Shule' comes from the German 'Schule' (from German colonial East Africa). East African schools face quality challenges despite high enrollment — teacher shortages, infrastructure gaps, and learning poverty (children not reading by age 10). Kenya's Competency Based Curriculum (CBC, 2017) is a major educational reform. School fees abolition dramatically increased attendance but quality remains a challenge.
