Lee (李遠哲) won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1986 for his contributions to chemical reaction dynamics. Taiwan has a strong chemical and pharmaceutical industry. Academic chemistry research at Taiwan's leading universities (NTU, NTHU) is internationally competitive in areas including materials chemistry and green chemistry.
