English Definition
A key therapeutic technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine involving the insertion of fine needles into specific points (穴位) on the body to regulate Qi and promote healing. Moxibustion (艾灸) uses heat from burning mugwort near acupoints. UNESCO inscribed acupuncture and moxibustion on its Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2010. It is now practiced in over 180 countries worldwide.
