Definition

A microprocessor is a multipurpose, programmable integrated circuit that accepts digital data as input, processes it according to instructions stored in memory, and provides results as output. It is the central processing unit of a computer, executing arithmetic and logic operations, controlling data flow, and managing peripheral devices. Modern microprocessors contain billions of transistors and support multiple cores for parallel processing.
