SaaS

USUK

Software as a Service — software delivered over the internet on a subscription basis, no installation required.

Also: Software as a Service

Definition

Software as a Service (SaaS) is a software distribution model in which applications are hosted by a vendor or service provider and made available to customers over the internet. SaaS eliminates the need for organizations to install, run, and maintain applications on their own computers or data centers. Users access the software through a web browser or API. Common examples include Salesforce, Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace.

Example

Instead of buying and installing Microsoft Office on every computer, a company pays for Microsoft 365, giving employees cloud access to Word, Excel, and Teams.
