USUK
Virtual Private Network — creates an encrypted tunnel over a public network for secure communication.
Also: Virtual Private Network
Definition
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) extends a private network across a public network, enabling users to send and receive data across shared or public networks as if their devices were directly connected to the private network. VPNs use encryption protocols such as OpenVPN, WireGuard, or IPSec to secure data in transit and provide anonymity by masking the user's real IP address. They are widely used for remote work, accessing geo-restricted content, and enhancing privacy.
Example
“Remote employees use a VPN to securely access the company's internal servers as if they were sitting in the office.”
