madrugada

The hours between midnight and dawn — a time of particular cultural significance in Spanish and Latin American life. The madrugada is when flamenco reaches its deepest expression, when writers and artists work, when nightlife extends, and when solitude is most profound. It differs from 'mañana' (morning) and carries connotations of creative and emotional intensity.
