The rhythmic pattern or metre in poetry. Classical Gujarati poetry follows Sanskrit metrical traditions (Aryachhand, Shardulvikridita) while folk poetry has its own metres. The Charans (bards) of Gujarat composed in traditional metres to praise kings and deities.
