Definition

The fundamental rights and freedoms to which all humans are entitled. Italy played a key role in drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948) — adopted in the same year as Italy's own Constitution. Italy is a strong supporter of international human rights mechanisms at the UN and Council of Europe.
