An institution of higher education and research. Poland has outstanding universities — the Jagiellonian University in Krakow (founded 1364) is one of Europe's oldest and counts Copernicus and Pope John Paul II among its students. Warsaw University (founded 1816), Warsaw University of Technology, and the AGH University of Science and Technology are leading research institutions. Poland is a destination for international students.
