grammatik
English meaning: Grammar
Swedish Definition
(Svenska)Systemet av regler som beskriver hur ord kombineras för att bilda meningar i ett språk.
English Definition
The rules governing the structure of a language. Swedish grammar is relatively regular — two grammatical genders (common/neuter, using en/ett articles), relatively free word order, and a V2 verb placement rule. Swedish has no grammatical cases for nouns (unlike German or Russian). Swedish has pitch accent (distinguishing some words). Swedish is mutually intelligible with Norwegian and Danish — the Scandinavian language continuum.
Example
“Svensk grammatik med bara två genus och inga kasus är relativt enkel för engelsktalande.”
In English: “Swedish grammar with only two genders and no cases is relatively simple for English speakers.”
