English Definition
A form of literary art using aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language to evoke emotion and meaning. Classical Chinese poetry (古诗) has a history of over 3,000 years. The Tang Dynasty (618–907 CE) is regarded as the golden age of Chinese poetry, with masters such as Li Bai, Du Fu, and Wang Wei. Poetry held the highest prestige among all literary forms in imperial China.
