Vietnamese philosophical thought blends Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism ('tam giáo' — three teachings) with indigenous Vietnamese worldviews. The philosopher Nguyễn Trãi (15th century) articulated a Vietnamese philosophy of humanistic governance and the mandate of heaven rooted in the people.
