English Definition

The Chinese system of combat techniques and physical exercises developed over thousands of years. Chinese martial arts encompass hundreds of styles grouped broadly as internal (内家拳, including Taijiquan) and external (外家拳, including Shaolin Kung Fu). Wushu has spread globally and was included in the 2008 Beijing Olympics as a demonstration sport. It carries deep philosophical connections to Taoism and Buddhism.
