Definition
A high-potential employee (HiPo) is an individual identified by the organization as having the capability, aspiration, and commitment to grow into senior leadership or critical roles significantly beyond their current position. Organizations invest disproportionately in HiPo development through accelerated learning programs, stretch assignments, mentoring, and visibility with senior leaders. Identification criteria typically include performance ratings, learning agility, and leadership behaviors.
