Learning Agility

USUK

The ability to learn quickly from experience and apply new insights in novel situations.

Definition

Learning agility is the ability and willingness to learn rapidly from new experiences, adapt to changing circumstances, and apply that learning effectively in unfamiliar situations. It is widely considered a key predictor of leadership potential and success in complex, fast-changing environments. Researchers at Korn Ferry identify five dimensions of learning agility: mental, people, change, results, and self-awareness agility. Organizations assess it in high-potential identification and succession planning.

Example

During the HiPo assessment, candidates with high learning agility scores were found to be three times more likely to succeed in roles of greater complexity, validating its use as a predictor in succession planning.
