Definition

The Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act (POSH Act), enacted in India in 2013, mandates that all organizations with 10 or more employees establish an Internal Committee (IC) to receive, investigate, and resolve complaints of sexual harassment at the workplace. Organizations must also conduct regular awareness training, display the policy conspicuously, and submit an annual compliance report. Non-compliance can result in fines and cancellation of licenses.

Example

As part of POSH Act compliance, the company conducted quarterly awareness workshops for all employees, constituted an Internal Committee with an external expert, and submitted its annual report to the district officer.
