Definition
Labour laws are a body of legislation that governs the relationship between employers, employees, and trade unions, covering areas such as wages, working hours, safety, leaves, termination, social security, and collective bargaining rights. In India, major labour laws include the Industrial Disputes Act, Factories Act, Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Wages Act, and the recently consolidated Labour Codes. Compliance is monitored by government labour departments and inspectors.
